Who is Unity?

The five candidates for election to the AOG BOD are working together to educate, inform, and run for election. There is no formal or informal organization but simply a shared interest and effort to become elected to the BOD. The website and shared communications are a cooperative effort and needed for outreach to members of the AOG in order to obtain the petitions needed for the ballot initiatives and candidate election.

Why did Unity send letters as an outreach tool?

The AOG has constantly refused to release email addresses for use in contacting members for obtaining petitions and advising of candidates running for election. As an alternative the candidates chose to send out direct mail pieces.

Where did Unity get the addresses for direct mail?

All addresses for AOG members are in the AOG Register of Graduates and readily available. However, the Register is not in a format that promotes sorting based upon member vs nonmember status nor listing in a manner that is conducive to direct mail. As a result a legally justified request was made to the AOG for a useable listing of AOG members for direct mail which the AOG provided.

How many letters were sent?

The list of total members provided by the AOG had 34,669 members. However, out of courtesy, letters were not sent to the 879 members who previously noted a preference not to be contacted by the AOG. Ultimately after a few other addresses 33,489 letters were sent.

What is the primary intent of Unity?

The primary intent is to improve the AOG’s effectiveness as an association of education and influence.

The secondary intent is to improve the AOG’s outreach and conversations with grads.
