Part 4 of a sampling from the over 600 comments we received on the petition form:
“Thank you for leading the charge in this fight. I, along with many of my classmates, feel the AOG has sat idly by while these changes have occurred without offering any input or feedback from the graduate community at large.” 2002
“Please save our beloved institution from these ridiculous ideas that are actively degrading the important character and morality growth that occurs through rigorous military training at USAFA. I am a woman graduate who ensured that I was over qualified compared to other applicants and REFUSE to let others believe my admittance was based on diversity requirements. It is a dishonor to women, people of color, and all diverse citizens to teach cadets about these horrible practices (DEI). Furthermore, LGBQT has not been researched enough to determine whether or not there is an element of mental illness behind it. Without a deep understanding of why a person’s mind creates this dysmorphia it should not be the standard to teach cadets that these feelings are healthy and valid. Please save the honor of our USAFA. Do not bend to public pressure. Stand for what is right!” 2009
“Stop the reverse discriminatory programs. Warriors are made for battle, not political correctness. “Ability” and “best suited for the job” are what matters, not quotas and special considerations. War is not a joke to be taken lightly and made “inclusive”.” 1987
“Please get sanity back to USAFA. This is not the place I graduated from. I am thrilled to see that some people are thinking the same way.” 1985
“So glad to have received your letter & invitation. I told a young “outreach” member at AOG that as long as the Wing was going to parrot the woke agenda (from CSAF on down), I would not, and have not, renewed my membership and have made no extra contributions!” 1974
“Thank you all for taking this initiative. For the past few years, whenever the AOG has asked for my support, I strongly voiced my concerns over the discrimination happening and the tragic departure from USAFA values of Integrity, Excellence, and Service. It is extremely discouraging when one realizes that the leadership has surrendered their integrity on the altar of political correctness, then demands that cadets learn and uphold principles of integrity. Initially, we were told that USAFA was teaching ABOUT Critical Race Theory (CRT), as a means to understand and engage the topic. Now it is clear that leadership is following the principles of CRT, and teaching it to cadets as the way of salvation for our country. Shame on them. This among other damning teachings should not be part of the warrior education and training.” 2000
“Thank you and your team for taking the initiative. I fully share your concerns about the ideological drive within USAFA and the greater military.” 2003
“The Academy system is broken. This is a step in the right direction.” 1988
“Thank you for addressing the significance and quality of USAFA education, and supporting and enhancing the necessary role of its graduates upon the course of the Academy’s continuing efforts to produce graduates of character and intelligence for our armed forces and society.” 1968
“Thank you for finally standing up to the weak and woke ideologies, that make our country and nation weaker. USAFA should not desire or encourage transgenders or accepting cadets that desire to be transgendered. Hopefully the USAFA will accept and train the smartest, most patriotic, and bravest men and women (those born as men and women) who will be commissioned in the USAF and U. S. Space Force.” 1983
“Thank you for having the integrity and courage to step up organize this initiative. I’m proud to stand alongside its advocates.” 2011
“Thank you for inserting words that promote open communications and eliminate censorship in our bylaws. Regarding DEI initiatives at USAFA, I have raised personally raised concerns with the AOG, but have seen little evidence that it’s being addressed by the Academy.” 1982
“No institution of higher learning should be reluctant to hear the views (varied as they might be) of its graduates…particularly those institutions dedicated to having its graduates defend the US Constitution with their very lives. We remind ourselves that our Constitution places the highest of values on the open expression of ideas via “free speech.” To think that an “Association of Graduates” would restrict itself in any way to the open expression of thoughts, viewpoints and/or recommendations to the leadership of the institution they graduated from seems totally counter to our nation’s Constitutional values.” 1972
“Thank you for pushing this initiative forward. I am shocked an appalled by the “woke” changes that have been made at USAFA. As a proud graduate, of all institutions, USAFA needs to maintain the same morals, standards, and values it was founded on.
Further, these components of USAFA are critical to ensuring future leaders in the United States Air Force and Military have the correct morals and value to support and defend the Constitution of the United States regardless of the political climate. Thank you again!” 2002
“Thank you for starting this petition. Too many graduates are not aware of the leftist indoctrination that’s going on at USAFA as well as other military institutions. This needs to STOP! Thanks for initiating this position.” 1986
“I went to my 25 year reunion in 2016 and decided I couldn’t go back based on how bad it was then. I have stopped giving to the AOG also for these reasons.” 1991
“Thank you for taking a stand for open, uncensored dialogue and fulsome feedback to the Academy leadership with emphasis on meritocracy within the institution.” 1980
“Thank you! It is disheartening to see our USAFA being flown into the ground by a group of misguided leaders. They don’t understand the importance of training warriors using tried and true principles of character and leadership rather than becoming agents of any political ideology. You have my wholehearted support to provide the AOG with a strong voice on these critical issues.” 1985
“Thank you for taking on this important initiative. I might actually start looking forward to participating in USAFA and AOG activities if this is successful. I think the new Supt is going to help get things back on track if he doesn’t get crushed first.” 1978
“Thank you for this very important proposal. If our country is to have the best leaders possible in case of war or wars, our academies are no place for politically-based, social-engineering “woke” programing of our cadets.” 1963
“Thank you for your efforts on this issue. I was an ALO for many years and recently resigned as I was tired of seeing good/great candidates get overlooked for all the wrong reasons. And now to see the changes to the Honor Code and the fact that mandatory attendance at football games is no longer required, what makes us different? It’s a sad day at USAFA and leadership is moving in the wrong direction. If I can do anything to further the cause, please let me know. Thanks again for taking the initiative.” 1981
“Thank you for your efforts. These programs have been rotting the military from the inside-out. I see it as a current Fighter Squadron Commander. It’s made me so sick to see the drastic changes at USAFA that I hesitate to come back and visit. Even for reunions because seeing current cadet standards and grit, or lack thereof, makes me sad.” 1999
Thank you! 1978, 1980, 1988, 1992, 2003, 2014, 1960, 1960, 1973, 1982, 1991, 1995, 1974
“Thanks for doing this, our military academies should not be part of the social justice experiments failing our children in schools across the country.” 1993
“Thanks for doing this. I’ve been very concerned & frustrated by some of the things going on over the last number of years. Appreciate your leadership.” 1985
“Thanks for making the effort to improve USAFA.” 1986
“Thanks for your efforts to return the Academy to the prestigious place it was.” 1990
“The academy must return to training and graduating the best warriors rather than politically correct social engineering programs based on divisive ideological theories that are, in and of themselves, discriminatory.” 1972
